It takes everything you loved about the acclaimed original and cranks up the volume to eleven. It’s called Super Glitch Dash for a reason, people: because it’s really, really super. That’s right-we’re talking about the long-awaited sequel to the amaze-fest Apple awarded Game of the Day and called “an atmospheric ride through trippy landscapes.” Job well done, developers.Crack your knuckles and take a deep breath because the ultimate twitch runner has arrived. The amount of love and dedication poured into a simple concept is worn on this game’s sleeve and that’s what makes it one of the best games on here. Easy to pick up and play yet difficult to compete in. This was the first game I played on Apple Arcade and to this day, I still see it as one of the essentials for any new subscriber. I can’t remember the last time a sequel took each positive of the first entry and pushed it to its absolute breaking point this well since Empire Strikes Back. The fact that each track has their own name, lore and backstory? The ball is now a phosphorescent sphere with fully-customizable, cyberpunk-esque armor with their own buffs & colors. The tracks are rendered in beautiful 3D with texture-rich detail you can almost feel what metal was made with them in your head. The endless, generated road was the only content but was still fun to play. It’s jarring to think about how the game that had preceded this one was only two contrasting colors white background, white ball, and blue track & text. If you like WipEout as much as I do, I think Super Impossible Road would be right up your alley. Unfortunately, it seems the tracks are randomly generated, so you don’t have the careful track design a more traditional racing game would have. The visuals are stunning the tracks themselves look simple, but the backgrounds are amazing. Instead of mastering airbraking and weapons, you’re jumping off the track and hoping you make it back on before you’re knocked back to the last checkpoint you hit. It seems the developers took a heavy inspiration from the WipEout series, which is never a bad thing. Throw races with ruthless opponents, time trials, a Virtua Racer-type time gate mode, and various other challenges into the mix, and you have a deceptively simple and fun racer. Super Impossible Road has a simple concept: race a high-tech marble down a winding track full of jumps and tight turns.
